India Remittances World Record

India received over USD 111 billion in remittances in 2022, setting a world record for getting the largest remittances ever recorded, becoming the first country to surpass the USD 100 billion mark, the United Nations migration agency has said.

Migrant workers from India are on track to send home a record amount of money this year, boosting the finances of Asia's third-largest economy, which is poised to retain its spot as the world's top recipient of remittances.

After India, China will stand second with $66 billion, followed by Mexico and the Philippines with $24 billion each, a latest report by the bank said yesterday.

Non-resident Indians (NRIs) have sent a record $63.6 bn to India in 2011 through remittances.
