French police said Monday they had identified the body of an Indian national found in a sack by the side of a road in northern France, thanks to a cigarette lighter found in the dead man's pocket.

A man here has been arrested over the death of a 33-year-old Indian man, who is being hailed as a hero for going to the rescue of a young woman being harassed on the metro. Rajinder Singh, 33, who hails from India's Punjab state, was electrocuted Sep 29 when he fell on the metro rails. Some accounts say he was pushed by the 22-year-old suspect.
