With e-commerce platforms increasingly turning to the Indian Posts to deliver their orders to customers, the fast flourishing e-retail business has become a revenue generator for the state-run agency, whose traditional operations are dented by the deep penetration of e-mail and mobile phones.

Can't Fix Time for NRI Voting Rights Legislation: Supreme Court

The Supreme Court, today, said that it cannot order legislature to make or amend a law within a particular time frame and granted eight weeks time to the Centre to effect changes in statutes for extending voting rights to NRIs through postal ballots.

Now, Indians abroad can file RTI applications using e-postal orders

There is reason to cheer for millions of Indians living overseas. The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) today added 176 Indian missions abroad under the category of "public authorities", which will now accept RTI application fees through the E-IPO (Electronic-Indian postal order).

The Department of Posts and Telegraph finally launched an online system, which allows Indians living abroad to directly purchase Electronic-Indian Postal Orders (E-IPO) on the Internet. Postal Orders are required as payment accompanying each RTI query.
