Little has changed for Harish Kumar since he came back home after winning a bronze medal for India at the Jakarta-Palembang Asian Games. Son of an auto rickshaw driver, Harish Kumar used to sell tea at North Delhi's Majun Ka Tilla area to support his family.

Sports Authority of India said it was in favour of strict application of the criteria that in individual events an athlete should be ranked in the top six while it should be a top eight position in team sports. Football, table tennis, handball, basketball and sepak takraw were facing the axe.
