India-pak Joint Statement

The United States has welcomed the joint statement of India and Pakistan to strictly observe all agreements on ceasefire along the Line of Control and other sectors, saying it is a positive step towards greater peace and stability in South Asia.

In the first meeting on the Kartarpur corrdor issue, officials from India and Pakistan today held discussions on setting up a corridor linking the Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Pakistani town of Kartarpur with Gurdaspur district in Punjab.

Home Minister P Chidambaram met Pakistan's Interior Minister Rehman Malik in the sidelines of the fourth SAARC Summit in Thimphu. A statement released by Pak High Commission in New Delhi said the meeting was held in a "cordial atmosphere".
