Assuring Russia that it is India's "principal partner" in the defence sector, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that the two strategic partners are working together for joint manufacture of advanced defence equipment in India under the 'Make in India' initiative.

Ahead of his visit to Russia, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today expressed confidence that his trip would deepen cooperation in the economic, energy and security spheres and substantially take forward the already strong people-to-people ties with "one of India's most valued friends".
