Prime Minister Narendra Modi has conveyed to Myanmar's State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi about the importance India attaches to her country's cooperation in ensuring that insurgent groups do not find any space to operate across the India-Myanmar border.

Hailing India's diversity and pluralism, Myanmar's iconic leader Aung San Suu Kyi today invoked Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru, saying people of her country drew huge inspiration from the two Indian greats in their yearning for democracy.

Underlining Myanmar's importance for peace and stability in the region, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today conveyed to it India's commitment to deepen ties in all key areas including security, a month after Indian Army carried out a counter-insurgency strike along the Indo-Myanmar border.
