A collaboration between India and the United States will advance scientific discovery and management of global health threats, Union Minister of State for Health Bharati Pravin Pawar said on Monday.

The third edition of the two-plus-two dialogue between India and the US on October 27 will entail a comprehensive discussion on cross-cutting bilateral issues as well as deliberations on regional and global developments, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said today.

The first-ever Indo-US ministerial 2+2 dialogue on American soil is expected to be a "highly qualitative and productive" meeting during which some key agreements that will augment the bilateral security ties could be signed, according to senior officials.

National Security Advisor Ajit Doval on Friday held "broad-based" talks with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Secretary of Defense James Mattis and US National Security Advisor John Bolton during which they discussed the "future direction" of the strategic Indo-US ties.

The "highly successful" first 2+2 Dialogue between India and the United States was a "defining moment" and the defence co-operation between the two countries is on the right track, US Defense Secretary James Mattis said in Washington on Tuesday.
