Vodafone Group is looking to sell its entire $2.3 billion stake in India's Indus Towers through stock market block deals next week, two sources with direct knowledge said, as part of the British firm's effort to repay debt.

Vodafone Idea, the country's struggling third telecom player, plans to begin the journey to roll out 5G services, matching rivals Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel, but the firm has offered no specific timeline for the launch or coverage of the ultra high-speed internet services.

Capital markets regulator SEBI has imposed a penalty of Rs 1 lakh on Bharti Infratel, now known as Indus Towers, for flouting rules pertaining to employee stock option schemes.

Bharti Airtel: Telecom major Bharti Airtel on Tuesday said that it has acquired a 4.7 per cent stake in Indus Towers from U.K.'s Vodafone Group for around Rs 2,388 crore.

Vi (Vodafone Idea) said its board has approved raising up to Rs. 14,500 crore, including Rs. 4,500 crore from promoter entities — Vodafone and Aditya Birla Group.

Airtel said it has signed an agreement to buy Vodafone's 4.7 percent stake in Indus Towers on the condition that the proceeds will be used for investment in Vi and clearing dues of the mobile tower company.
