Legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar flagged off the Mumbai Half Marathon on Sunday.

In a move to avoid the winter smog and pollution in the national capital, Procam International, the organisers of the Airtel Delhi Half Marathon (ADHM), on Thursday advanced the 11th edition of the IAAF Gold Label Race to October 21.

Excitement level is peaking in Srinagar as there are less than 48 hours to go for the first international half marathon, aimed to promote a happy and healthy lifestyle in Jammu and Kashmir. Runners can be seen in the mornings, preparing for the marathon that will be held on Sunday along the banks of the iconic Dal Lake.

Athletes from Kenya and Ethiopia are expected to participate in an international half marathon to be held in Agra in February 2013 with a winners' purse of Rs.2 crore, an official said on Friday. It's envisaged as an annual event.

India will once again come under international spotlight when New Delhi hosts the elite IAAF World Half Marathon Championships here tomorrow.
