As Americans begin to cast their ballots to elect their next president, Apple News will bring live updates to iPhone and iPad users' lock screens.

iOS 18 was rolled out for iPhone users globally on Monday. It includes changes such as home and lock screen customisation, revamped apps, and more options in the Control Centre. The update also includes two features that are new to iOS but have been long-existent on Android: Rich Communication Services (RCS) Messaging and T9 Dialling.

Slack is bringing three new widgets to the iPhone, the company announced on Monday. The new widgets add catch-up, status view and other functionalities to the iPhone’s home and lock screens, enabling users to leap directly into the different tabs of the Slack app. The features are available to iPhone users following the app’s latest update.

iOS 18 will introduce features tailored to users in India, when the upcoming operating system update for eligible iPhone models is released later this year. Users will have access to new customisation options on the lock screen and contact posters, while the keyboard will get improved language support, along with Siri and the Translate app.

iOS 18 is expected to bring Dark Mode to the app icons on the iPhone home screen, according to a report. Toggling the setting may reportedly add a dark tint to the app icons. Additionally, Apple may also allow users to lock apps using Face ID. The features are expected to be showcased at the Apple WWDC 2024 on Monday.

Instagram, the social media platform, recently added a new feature to its iOS app that will make clicking and posting Stories faster than before. The app now comes with a new lock screen widget that will directly open the Story Camera and allow users to click a picture or shoot a video and post it as a Story.
