Iran-india Diplomatic Ties

Ahead of PM Narendra Modi's two-day visit to Iran, starting on May 22, India has fast-tracked the process of paying Iran nearly $6.5 billion it owes to the oil rich country for crude imports during the period it was facing sanctions.

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif met Prime Minister Narendra Modi who affirmed India's commitment to work with Tehran for development of Chabahar Port that is expected to have far reaching benefit for India, Iran and the entire Central Asian region.
