A blast in a St Petersburg train carriage on Monday that killed 11 people and injured 45 was carried out by a suspected suicide bomber with ties to radical Islamists, Russia's Interfax news agency cited a law enforcement source as saying.

Alleged terrorist Mohd Mosiuddin was plotting ISIS-style chilling execution of foreigners, especially those from the US, Russia and the UK, visiting the Mother House in Kolkata as it would be a "heart pleasing" experience for him, the NIA has claimed.

A news agency affiliated to the ISIS said Thursday that one of the suspects in a weekend explosion in Russia that injured police was a member of the jihadist outfit.

Russia's anti-terrorism agency says its officers have arrested four people it says are connected with the ISIS and are suspected of planning attacks.
