For the first time, two women officers joined Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) as Assistant Commandants on Sunday after they passed out from ITBP Academy in Mussoorie.

In another first for women, 25-year-old Prakriti has been inducted as the first direct-entry combat officer in the border guarding force, ITBP.

At least 100 women Indo-Tibetan Border Police or ITBP personnel have been deployed at 15 border posts along the arduous Sino-India frontier, making it the first such posting of 'mahila' combatants in a forward area.
