Jadavpur University Report To Ugc

Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Sunday said the report to the University Grants Commission by Jadavpur University, where a student died recently after allegedly being ragged and sexually harassed, was "not satisfactory".

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has reprimanded Jadavpur University for submitting a "generic" report on the alleged ragging and sexual harassment of a first-year student leading to his death, sources said on Thursday.

The anti-ragging committee of Jadavpur University has submitted a report to the University Grants Commission (UGC) on preliminary findings of its inquiry into the death of an undergraduate student, an official of the institution said.

The Jadavpur University Teachers Association (JUTA) said in its response to the UGC Concept Note about blended learning method that majority of students do not have the required high-speed internet connectivity with a standard digital device.

Jadavpur University Teachers Association has urged Vice-Chancellor Prof Suranjan Das to adhere to UGC guidelines, and follow the uniform rule for all streams while conducting examinations.
