Hundreds of people gathered in central Delhi's Jantar Mantar today in protest against the government over the amended Citizenship Act. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) said entry and exit gates have been shut at Janpath Metro Station.

The Delhi Police has denied permission to RTI activist Arvind Kejriwal for his 'gherao protest' in the capital tomorrow. Mr Kejriwal has called for the public to protest at the homes of the Prime Minister and BJP president Nitin Gadkari on Sunday. He blames the two leaders equally for corruption scandals.

Delhi woke up to a Monday without any electricity. Metro trains weren't running, so commuters hit the roads, where traffic lights weren't working because of a massive power outage across North India. At 9 am, attendance was sparse at activist Anna Hazare's protest camp in the capital.
