A court on Wednesday sentenced three persons to life imprisonment till last breath for killing a 24-year-old man during the Jat quota agitation in 2016.

A 22-year-old college student was today stabbed to death by two persons in Rishi Nagar area in Hisar, police said.

With the pro-quota agitation by Jats entering its 14th day, as many as 20 persons belonging to the community were today detained by police for holding a protest without permission at Surewala Chowk.

The judicial officers posted in the violence-hit districts of Rohtak, Sonepat, Jhajjar, Hisar, Bhiwani during the Jat agitation for reservation in Haryana have blamed the police for failing to provide them security when their lives were at risk.

Curfew was lifted in Hisar district today and relaxed in violence-hit Rohtak and Bhiwani districts while rail and road traffic resumed on routes which had remained blocked for over a week due to the Jat quota agitation that claimed 19 lives.

As violence spread to more areas in Haryana over the Jat quota agitation, curfew was clamped in Jind, Hisar and Hansi districts.
