Jat Protests In Hisar

With the pro-quota agitation by Jats entering its 14th day, as many as 20 persons belonging to the community were today detained by police for holding a protest without permission at Surewala Chowk.

Curfew was lifted in Hisar district today and relaxed in violence-hit Rohtak and Bhiwani districts while rail and road traffic resumed on routes which had remained blocked for over a week due to the Jat quota agitation that claimed 19 lives.

The Jats, demanding quota in government jobs, seemed to have relented a bit on their stand with the protesters lifting their sit-ins on various roads, including Hisar-Delhi and Hisar-Chandigarh national highways.
