Congress MLA Vishvendra Singh was arrested Tuesday demanding withdrawal of cases lodged against Jat community members during their June 2017 stir for reservation in state jobs and educational institutions.

The Other Backward Classes (OBC) commission had submitted it's report to Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje yesterday after which Jats community members blocked railway tract following a decision taken in a Mahapanchayat.

Taking their quota stir to the national capital, thousands of Jat community members protested at Jantar Mantar on Thursday and demanded reservations in jobs and educational institutions.

Protests by the Jat community in Haryana seeking reservation in education institutes and government jobs continued on the 18th day today.

With Jat agitation continuing, the Haryana government has sought from the Centre 5,600 paramilitary personnel to deal with the growing tension in the state.

Jat leaders owing allegiance to All-India Jat Aarakshan Sangarsh Samiti (AIJASS), held dharnas at various places in the state for the second day today but on a low-key note and drawing lukewarm response.

The Parkash Singh Committee, probing the role of police and civil administration officials during the Jat reservation stir, today submitted its report to Haryana government, pointing towards "negligence" on part of certain officials in controlling the situation.

Haryana government has asked the nationalised banks to provide loans on nominal rate to the traders affected during the recent reservation agitation in the state so as to enable them to restart their business.

After rejecting reports of gangrapes at Murthal during the Jat stir for reservation, the Haryana Police has told the Punjab and Haryana High Court that the section on gangrape had been added to the FIR in the case.
