Jats Block Highways

The Delhi Police has declared Section 144, banning large gatherings in border districts this evening as the Jats carried on protests for quota in jobs and education in neighbouring Haryana.

Around 17,000 trees were felled by protesters to block highways, city roads and railway tracks during the 10-day agitation in Haryana by Jat protesters asking for reservation, a senior state Forest Department official said today.

The Jat agitation in Haryana today had its echo in eastern Rajasthan where protesters damaged two buses and blocked railway tracks and highway, prompting the district administration to impose prohibitory orders.
