Dayanidhi Maran, former Telecom Minister and DMK member, filed his nomination for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections from the Central Chennai constituency on Tuesday.

The DMK released its list of candidates for 20 seats in Tamil Nadu on Sunday, earmarking four for children of leaders and two for women in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The rest of the 20 constituencies will go to the Congress and other allies.

AIADMK's Youth Wing leader S R Vijaya Kumar is a giant killer. He defeated DMK's mighty leader Dayanidhi Maran on his home turf by 45,000 votes. It was a huge embarrassment for the former telecom minister who sought a third term from his party's bastion Chennai Central, thrice represented by his father, late Murasoli Maran.

Taking on former Telecom Minister Dayanidhi Maran of DMK over corruption allegations, AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa today charged him with laying the "basis for the Himalayan" 2G spectrum scam and raked up the Aircel-Maxis deal in which he and his brother Kalanidhi are accused.

Tamil Nadu's ruling AIADMK's P. Saroja on Sunday took an unassailable lead of over 61,000 votes over her DMK rival V. Maran in the Yercaud by-election, officials said.
