A portrait of J Jayalalithaa took prime spot inside the Tamil Nadu assembly today amid strong objections by the opposition DMK and the Congress, which boycotted the event. Jayalalithaa's portrait has been put up in the assembly gallery and stands apart from the 10 other images inside the assembly, of chief ministers and Tamil Nadu icons.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K Palaniswami today described late Jayalalithaa as "super chief minister" who had slogged for people all her life, and asked what was wrong in the move to unveil her portrait in the state assembly.
