A Central team that had visited Jharkhand today confirmed that the standing crops int the state were damaged due to drought, a state official said in Ranchi.

The Jharkhand government will seek a Rs 816 crore financial package from the centre for the state's drought-affected districts, an official said on Tuesday.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today chaired high-level meetings to reviewed the drought and water scarcity situations in parts of Rajasthan and in Jharkhand.

As the drought looming over Jharkhand gets worse, schools in various towns in the state has facing the heat.
