Nearly 200 Indian workers, brought to the US by an American firm to repair damaged oil rigs after the Hurricane Katrina, have won a $20 million settlement against the company for defrauding and exploiting them, in one of the largest labour trafficking cases in US history.

A New Orleans jury on Wednesday awarded $14 million to five Indian men who were lured to the United States and forced to work under inhumane conditions after Hurricane Katrina by a US ship repair firm and its co-defendants.
