The cabinet has approved a draft bill to amend the Juvenile Justice Act, through which minors above the age of 16 who are accused of heinous crimes like rape and murder can be tried as adults. But in view of concerns about child rights, the decision on whether a minor would be tried as an adult has been left to the Juvenile Justice Board.
