Jyotibasu Dies

A pall of gloom descended on the city as soon as the news of CPM patriarch Jyoti Basu's death spread with people turning up in hordes at the hospital to pay their last respects to the departed leader.

The Prime Minster and Congress President Sonia Gandhi condoled the passing away of veteran Communist leader Shri Jyoti Basu. Both sent condolence letters to the departed leader's son Shri Chandan Basu.

Veteran Communist leader and former West Bengal chief minister Jyoti Basu died at a Kolkata hospital on Sunday. He was 95.
