Hours after Chandrayaan-2 launch was called off because of a technical glitch, former ISRO chief K Madhavan Nair recalled Monday that India's first mission to the Moon too had experienced a similar problem shortly before the rocket could blast off.

''Space science offers many challenges and prospects for students but not many are aware of them. Only by creating awareness on the vast possibilities in the field can students be attracted to it,'' said G Madhavan Nair

He takes over after Dr G Madhavan Nair who is scheduled to retire at the end of the month.
