Congress president Rahul Gandhi, on a pilgrimage to Kailash Mansarovar in Tibet, arrived in Nepal's capital today.

All the 1,430 stranded Indian pilgrims who were stranded while returning from the Kailash Mansarovar in Tibet have been airlifted to safety with the evacuation of the last batch of 160 people from Nepal's mountainous regions today, the Indian embassy in Kathmandu said.

The External Affairs Ministry has issued an advisory for pilgrims planning to undertake the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, saying that there were "high chances" of getting stranded in various legs of the journey in case of bad weather.

The ordeal of the stranded Indian pilgrims returning from Kailash Mansarovar in Tibet is still not over as nearly 1,000 of them continue to await their evacuation at Nepal's mountainous regions amidst inclement weather, according to Indian embassy in Nepal.

The first batch of Kailash Manasarovar Yatra-2018 was today flagged off here by Union minister of state for External Affairs VK Singh, who hoped the pilgrimage passing through difficult terrain of the Himalayas concludes smoothly.

Devotees at Kailash Mansarovar are not being allowed to take a holy dip in the Mansarovar Lake, alleges a priest, who is leading a delegation of devotees from India. In a video posted on Twitter, Sanjeev Thakur said that China has issued an order in this regard, but Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj refuted the claim.
