A Delhi court has slapped a cost of Rs 10,000 on the CBI for its "unwarranted conduct" in creating "unnecessary confusion" and delay in the proceedings in a Commonwealth Games-related corruption case in which Congress MP Suresh Kalmadi and others are facing trial.

A Delhi court dealing with a CWG related corruption case today said two of the accused had paid Rs 71.73 lakh for actor Shilpa Shetty's performance in the closing ceremony of 2008 CWG Youth Games at Pune "merely to fulfil the last moment wish" of Suresh Kalmadi.

Mr Kalmadi was arrested on April 25, 2011. He spent nine months in Delhi's Tihar Jail and was released after the Delhi High Court granted him bail on January 19 2012.
