For 55-year-old Abdul Kaizuddin in Assam's Barpeta district, floods are nothing new. This year, however, compounded by the coronavirus crisis, the floods haven been especially exacting on the vegetable seller and his family of eight in the Kanchanpur village of Baghbar area, 130 km west of Guwahati.

Floods and landslides triggered by torrential rains in the past three days have killed at least four people and submerged over two thousand houses in three districts of western Nepal.

Three persons died of electrocution in three villages of Kanchanpur Sub-division of North Tripura district, about 180 km from Agartala, official sources reported today.
