When the relatives of 86-year-old Sosamma John, who had died recently, came on Thursday to collect the mortal remains from a private hospital at Kanjirappally here, they were in for the shock of their lives.

A 12-year-old girl was allegedly raped at her home in Kanjirappally in the district, police said on Friday.

Rain occurred at isolated places in Kerala. Mainly dry weather will prevail over Lakshadweep. According to meteorology sources here, Kanjirappally reported a heavy rainfall of 8 cm. The other chief amounts of rainfall in cm are: Alappuzha,Kottayam,Chertala,Konni & Kozha 4 each.Another 7 stations reported a rainfall of 1-3 cm.
