700 Kuki-Zo People Sheltered In Assam Are Back In Manipur

Eleven people have been arrested after a man was beaten to death and three others critically injured by a mob in Assam's Biswanath district that suspected them to be cattle thieves on Thursday. All those arrested are from the Adivasi community who work in the Diplunga Tea Estate, about 250 km from Guwahati.

Three days after two men were beaten to death in Assam's Karbi Anglong by a mob which mistook them for child kidnappers, 19 people have been arrested. The police have also cracked down on those spreading rumours on social media and circulating fake news with inflammatory content that could spark off communal clashes in the state.
