Taking a dig at Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy for his stay at a resort, Karnataka BJP Sunday asked him to take time out and look at the city's collapsing infrastructure and drought situation in the state.

Facing worst drought in last four decades, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah today sought additional Rs 12,272 crore funds for improving supply of drinking water and fodder as Prime Minister Narendra Modi reviewed the situation in the state with him in New Delhi.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has invited Chief Ministers of Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and Karnataka on Saturday for discussions on drought and water scarcity situation which has hit these states badly.

With concerns over the drought situation mounting, Home Minister Rajnath Singh chaired a meeting of the High Level Committee in New Delhi today for central assistance to Karnataka, Puducherry and Arunachal Pradesh which have been affected by drought and floods.

Accusing the Siddaramaiah dispensation of having no action plan to counter the drought situation in the state, Opposition in the Legislative Assembly today said the government was as good as "not alive" and that the people of the state had lost faith in it.

While the farmers in states like Maharashtra and Karnataka are being punished with a drought-like situation, in the Dewas district of Madhya Pradesh, it is excessive rain that has destroyed huge swathes of soybean crop.

A central team is being sent to Karnataka soon to assess the drought situation there, Prime Minister Narendra Modi told an all-party delegation from the state led by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah which raised the matter along with a number of other issues.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah today said he will lead an all-party delegation to the Prime Minister to seek more relief funds in the wake of farmer suicides, unseasonal rains and drought like situation in certain parts of the state.
