A directive by Lt Governor Najeeb Jung warning Delhi government officials not to follow its "illegal" orders has triggered a fresh round of confrontation between the two sides with Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal seeking the Prime Minister's intervention in dispelling confusion in the administration.

Acting Delhi Chief Secretary Shakuntala Gamlin, whose appointment has fuelled a face-off between the Arvind Kejriwal government and Lt Governor Najeeb Jung, on Monday met Union Home Secretary LC Goyal.

The Centre today advised Delhi Lieutenant-Governor Najeeb Jung and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to work as per the Constitution while discharging their respective responsibilities.
