Kerala has to stop vaccination as many of its districts, including Thiruvananthapuram, are running dry of vaccine, state Health Minister Veena George said today.

With mercury levels rising and abnormal drying up of rivers and wells reported in flood-hit Kerala, the state government has decided to conduct scientific studies on the post-flood phenomenon in the state.

Kerala known for its backwaters, ayurveda, coconut lagoons and sea food has been a favourite destination for tourists but hoteliers claim the new liquor policy may make it difficult to keep up the high spirits.

Kerala's no-liquor policy was approved today by the High Court, which has said that it is in line with the Indian Constitution.

Liquor sale outlets and bars in Kerala will remain closed on all Sundays beginning on Sunday as part of the Congress-led UDF Government's liquor policy which seeks to lead the state to total prohibition within a decade.
