Kerala Haj Quota

A meeting of Muslim religious organisations on Thursday opined that they were not opposed to doing away with the Haj subsidy in a phased manner.

The Centre has agreed to raise Kerala's Haj quota by 1031 this year, enabling a total of 7518 pilgrims from the state to fly to Mecca to perform the pilgrimage.

A total of 49429 applications have been received this year for Haj pilgrimage 2012 in Kerala.The draw of lots for the pilgrimage was inaugurated by Kerala Haj and industries minister, PK Kunhalikutty at the Haj house in the nearby Karippur in Malappuram district.The quota for this year's Haj pilgrimage from Kerala is 6487.
