Kerala Ship Hit-and-run

A local court on Tuesday granted bail to two officials on board the Singapore-based vessel Prabhu Daya which hit a fishing boat off the coast on March 1 leading to the death of five fishermen.

The owner of the Singapore-flagged vessel, suspected to have collided with a boat off Kerala on March 1, has been directed by Kerala High court to pay Rs 25 lakh each to families of the four of the five fishermen killed.

A sailor of cargo ship M.V. Prabhu Daya was arrested by Kerala Police here on Thursday in connection with a hit-and-run case involving fishing boat Don-1 off the Kerala coast on March 1, police said.

The Singapore flagged cargo ship, suspected to have been involved in the March 1 hit-and-run sea mishap off the Kerala coast that left three Indian fishermen dead, arrived here today complying with a directive by the DGS to assist in the probe into the incident.
