The new ICT textbook includes chapters that equip students to identify fake news and malicious content.

The Kerala General Education Department took a pioneering step by incorporating modules into the ICT textbooks for Classes 5 and 7 to empower school children to identify fake news on online platforms and conduct fact-checking, said an official.

Kerala General Education Minister V Sivankutty on Tuesday criticised the recent controversial modifications made in school textbooks by the NCERT and said textbooks should not contain narrow ideological positions or propaganda of any movement.

Education Minister said that the Constitution recognises both names.
