Kirti Azad Joins Congress

Kirti Azad Joins TMC: Expelled JDU leader Pavan Varma joined the Trinamool Congress in Delhi this evening in the presence of Mamata Banerjee, in a move that marks the Bengal Chief Minister's first foray into Bihar.

Congress leader Kirti Azad will join Trinamool Congress (TMC) today at 5 pm in the national capital, informed sources.

Cricketer-turned-politician and suspended BJP lawmaker Kirti Azad, who joined the Congress on Monday, attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for making false promises and said there was no internal democracy within the BJP. He also said joining congress was his "ghar wapsi" and he felt like a "political orphan" in the BJP.

Kirti Azad, suspended by the BJP three years ago, joined the Congress today and called it "gharwapsi (homecoming)", months before the national election due by May. Rahul Gandhi led the welcome squad as Kirti Azad, a former cricketer who was a part of the 1983 World Cup squad, joined the Congress.

Five months after she joined Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Poonam Jha Azad, the wife of suspended BJP lawmaker Kirti Azad, has switched to the Congress. Ms Azad, who contested the 2003 Delhi assembly election against former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, described it as "homecoming".
