Kitex Garments' total income from operations fell 9 per cent to Rs 156.50 crore from Rs 172.23 crore in the March quarter of last quarter. Its earnings per share declined to Rs 5.68 from Rs 9.45.

The Kerala-based garment maker reported a 52 per cent decline in net profit to Rs 12.92 crore in second quarter from Rs 27.15 crore during the same period last year.

The measures announced by the government yesterday include additional incentives for duty drawback scheme for garments, flexibility in labour laws to increase productivity as well as tax and production incentives for job creation in garment manufacturing.

The Kochi-based company reported a net profit of Rs 27.15 crore on sales of Rs 120 crore for the July-September quarter.

The year 2014 has been an outstanding year for Indian equity markets with the Sensex and Nifty giving returns of around 30 per cent. Benign global liquidity and improving macro fundamentals of India have attracted foreign flows of around Rs 1 lakh crore in to Indian equities in 2014.

Broker Motilal Oswal started it with a "buy" rating and a target of Rs 651.
