Cauvery Water Dispute: Supreme Court Fixes July 11 For Final Hearing

The Supreme Court on Tuesday said it will commence on July 11 the final hearing of the appeals filed by Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala against the 2007 award of the Cauvery Water Dispute Tribunal (CWDT) on sharing of water for 15 consecutive workings days.

As protests against Cauvery water release to Tamil Nadu continued in Mandya today, the local administration banned entry of tourists inside the Krishnaraja Sagar Reservoir (KRS) complex in Mysore till February 13 as a precautionary measure.

Politics over the Cauvery water issue between Karnataka and Tamil Nadu turned violent this afternoon, with pro-Karnataka activists stoning Rapid Action Force personnel who are posted around the Krishna Raja Sagar (KRS) reservoir. Protesters are also trying to force their way into the dam area. Police have arrested G Madegowda, a farmer leader.
