The Army today said it was prepared to give an appropriate response to any adverse aggressive designs of China in the Ladakh sector, maintaining that the integrity of the country was being ensured through physical patrolling and technical means.

China has dismantled dozens of structures and moved vehicles to empty out entire camps along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) - the de facto border, where Indian and Chinese troops have been locked in a face-off since last summer, satellite images released on Wednesday show.

China has "attempted to seize" control of the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with India "by force" as part of its territorial aggression, US' National Security Adviser has said, underlining that time has come to accept that dialogue and agreements will not persuade Beijing to change.

A meeting between military commanders of India and China is currently underway near the Chinese side of the Line of Actual Control to defuse tension along the de facto border between the two neighbours.

The government has said "making exaggerated and untenable claims" on areas along the Line of Actual Control or LAC is against the understanding that military commanders of India and China had reached during a meeting on June 6.

Elliot Engel, chief of the US House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee, on Monday said that he was "extremely concerned" by the Chinese aggression against India along the Line of Actual Control in Ladakh and urged Beijing to "respect norms and use diplomacy and existing mechanisms to resolve its border questions".

The Indian Army and the Chinese military are moving in heavy equipment and weaponry including artillery and combat vehicles to their rear bases close to the disputed areas in eastern Ladakh. The two sides remain engaged in a standoff along the troubled region for over 25 days, military sources said on Sunday.
