The Central Railway operated the prestigious Mumbai-Pune Deccan Queen Express and CSMT-Kalyan ladies special local train with all-women crews to mark International Women's Day on Wednesday.

Western Railway will run four ladies special suburban trains from Wednesday, taking the count of such "women's only" services to six and overall daily services on its network to 704 amid the coronavirus-induced lockdown.

The Government Railway Police (GRP) has unleashed a special squad of women officers to tackle the problem of thefts and robberies in ladies' bogies on the suburban local trains. The squad, disguised as regular commuters, follow on-record criminals to catch them in the act, and hand them over to the police.

Considering inconvenience faced by commuters due to scheduling of ladies special services on its trans-harbour line, the Central Railway (CR) has reworked its time table and added new services.
