Thousands of mourners gathered in Georgia on Tuesday night at a memorial service for US Marine Lance Corporal Squire K. "Skip" Wells, the youngest of five US servicemen killed when a gunman opened fire on military offices in Tennessee.

The suspect in the fatal shootings of four U.S. Marines travelled to Jordan and possibly other Middle Eastern countries last year, authorities said on Friday, as the investigation focussed on any signs of a connection to Islamist militants.
