The ruling CPI-M-led Left Democratic Front or LDF in Kerala today organised a 'human chain' across the state as part of its plans to intensify protests against hardships faced by people due to the demonetisation scheme and alleged attempts to destroy the cooperative sector in the state.

In a show of strength, the CPI(M)-led LDF on Thursday mobilised thousands of people to create a 298-km-long human chain to press the demand for replacing the century-old Mullaperiyar dam, an issue that has led to fresh friction between Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
