Jammu And Kashmir Relaxes Permit Requirements For Foreign Tourists

Jammu and Kashmir government today relaxed the requirements for obtaining a Protected Area Permit (PAP) - required by foreigners to visit Leh - with the aim of encouraging tourism in the state. Under the new regime, foreigners tourists will be allowed to visit areas of Leh that were till now closed to them.

Hoteliers are preparing for the tourist season with summer vacations round the corner and are worried that media attention on the border tension might impact business.
