The occasion for changes in the Lokpal Act, to confer the anti-corruption ombudsman with the powers to reconsider and review its orders, has not arisen, the Lok Sabha was informed today.

The Lokpal and Lokayuktas Act, 2013, provides for the establishment of Lokpal for the Union and Lokayuktas for the states to inquire into allegations of corruption against public functionaries.

There has been no change in the Budget allocation of Rs 4.29 crore for the anti-corruption body Lokpal, whereas an increase of about Rs 1.5 crore in outlay for the Central Vigilance Commission has been proposed for the next fiscal.

The Union Cabinet has given its go ahead to a number of amendments to the Lokpal Bill after the Select Committee of the Rajya Sabha submitted its report. The bill is now set to be placed before the Rajya Sabha in the Budget Session of Parliament.

Anti-corruption activist Anna Hazare today said assurances like the one by Sonia Gandhi that Lokpal Bill would be passed in the budget session of Parliament were being made for the past two years and said intentions of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and the Congress President on it were 'not clear'.
