Senators raise concern about potential changes in L1 visa programme

In a letter to the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Director Alejandro Mayorkas, Senators Chuck Grassley and Dick Durbin said that they "are concerned about attempts by unscrupulous petitioners to obtain L-1B status for workers who do not truly possess specialized knowledge relating to the petitioning company."

Lawmakers question sharp rise in denial of H1B, L1 visas

US lawmakers and corporate bigwigs have questioned the Obama administration over the issue, warning this would hurt American business interests. In case of L-1B petitions, the denial rate jumped from seven per cent in 2007 to 27 per cent in 2011.
