Ma Durga Idol

An idol of Ma Durga standing at over 100 feet in Guwahati is attracting pandal hoppers from far and near and organisers have staked the claim for its entry into the Guinness Book of Records as the tallest bamboo structure.

This Durga Puja, Mamata Banerjee has 12 arms and is transformed from Didi to "Ma". The pujas begin on Friday and while Kolkata's many pandals are usually the big draw, a Durga idol two hours away from the city is all the buzz this time.
