Madrasa Survey

The principal of a government school was thrashed by a group of people when he went to survey a madrasa in Ahmedabad on Saturday, police said.

Madrasa Board Chairman said that the process of giving recognition to 8,500 unaffiliated madrasas will be resumed with the permission of the state government.

District Minority Welfare Officer Bharat Lal Gaur told PTI on Saturday that a total of 754 madrasas are registered in Saharanpur. The number of unrecognized madrasas in the district is 306, he said

A total of 6,436 unrecognized madrasas have been identified in Uttar Pradesh so far, and the survey has been completed of 5,170 madrasas, said State Minority Welfare Minister Dharampal Singh on Wednesday.

Prominent Islamic seminary Darul Uloom Deoband on Sunday said it has no objections to the Uttar Pradesh government's survey of private madrassas but the whole system of such institutions should not be denigrated if a few don't follow rules.
